As many of you are aware, The Croatian Club Adelaide is celebrating its 75th anniversary. But you might not be aware that the Croatian History Group is collecting materials for a book marking 75 years of activism under the auspices of the Club.

 It’s an exciting project, and it’s progressing well with input from Adelaide Croatians who have been involved in various groups. But now we’re calling for more help. We need your assistance to source additional images and documents that tell our collective story.

 Here is our wish list of photos:

• Adelaide Croatians in Displaced Persons or refugee camps before leaving for Australia

• Adelaide Croatians on the voyage to, or arriving in Australia

• Adelaide Croatians fulfilling their work contracts across Australia and regional SA before settling in Adelaide (e.g. the Snowy Mountains Scheme or timber industry around Mount. Gambier)

• Photos of Croatian activities before the purchase of the first Club premises in Chief Street

• Photos of activities in the Chief Street Club and the current Club

• Photos of Club-related activities throughout the Club’s history – such as picnics, zabave, Croatian School, demonstrations, aid for Croatia during the Homeland War of Independence, and more

We’re also aiming to expand our collection of documents and historical objects of all kinds relating to the Club’s history, regardless of whether or not you believe they are significant.

Examples include:

• Documents telling the story of your family’s immigration

• Club bulletins, especially from the early period – we only have a handful of originals from the 1950s,1960s and 1970s

• Agendas and minutes from AGMs of the Club or groups working through the Club

• Invitations to events organised by the Club or its affiliated groups

• Club-related correspondence of all kinds

• Correspondence related to groups affiliated with the Club

• Membership tokens (keyrings, etc.) from any of the Club’s organisations

• Other Club-related memorabilia
