The website of the South Australian Croatian History Room Archive was officially launched on Friday, 29 August 2025, in the Library at The Croatian Club Adelaide. The launch featured speeches by Dijana Adžić, Vice-President of The Croatian Club Adelaide; Dr Vesna Drapać, Associate Professor of History at the University of Adelaide; and Branimir Šprajcer, Coordinator of the Croatian History Festival Adelaide and Croatian History Room Archive. All three speakers are members of the Festival Steering Committee. Launch photos will be added soon in the Gallery section of the Festival Website, with the historic event also covered in the Croatian Herald newspaper. The new archive website now includes the Biographies Project as an integral part, enriching the search experience by allowing visitors to explore not only documents, photographs, and records, but also the life stories of people who shaped the Croatian community in South Australia. The website will grow slowly during the remainder of the Festival, though it is expected that archive content, especially in the biographies section, will be significantly enlarged following the forthcoming Croatian History Conference in October/November and the commemorative book launch, now slated for January 2026. This archive is a valuable resource for our community, preserving our memories, identity, and shared history.
The Croatian History Group warmly encourages donations of historical material relating to the local Croatian community, such as photographs, documents or artefacts. This will help preserve historical materials for current and future generations. Funding assistance was provided by the Republic of Croatia’s Central State Office for Croats Abroad, which is greatly appreciated by the local Croatian community.
